Man from Hull jailed for eight years after raping woman

A man from Hull has been jailed for eight years after raping a woman who had just given birth.
30-year-old Michael Wilkinson, of Willerby Road in Hull, denied rape but was found guilty.
The court heard how Wilkinson forced himself on the woman who had recently returned home and was recovering from childbirth.
He was initially arrested in August 2025 after the survivor came forward and reported him for raping, controlling and coercing her over a number of years.
Wilkinson has also been handed a lifetime Restraining Order.
Following sentencing, Detective Constable Jen Rix who led the investigation said: “We want to recognise the extraordinary courage shown by the victim throughout this investigation and the trial. Her strength has ensured that a dangerous individual has been brought to justice.
“This was an appalling and deeply violating offence, and Wilkinson targeted the woman at one of the most vulnerable moments in her life.
“His behaviour was predatory, callous, and showed complete disregard for her wellbeing, dignity, and safety.
“We take all reports of sexual offences extremely seriously and will continue to seek justice for those who have suffered at the hands of individuals with a propensity to commit such unspeakable crimes like Wilkinson."
