Police increase presence on Weelsby Street
A 35-year-old man is receiving treatment in hospital after sustaining serious injuries from a stabbing on Weelsby Street, Grimsby.
The incident took place on Friday afternoon, with emergency services responding to reports at around 1:35pm.
Although the injuries are considered serious, they are not thought to be life-changing at this time.
Detective Inspector Steve Antrobus said: "We are in the very early stages of our investigation, and I have a team of dedicated officers conducting multiple lines of enquiry to identify those involved, however at this stage we do believe those involved to be known to each other.
"Understandably given the nature of this incident it will be concerning to the local community, and locals to the area can expect to see an increased policing presence.
"A cordon is currently in place between Wigmore Court on Weelsby Street and Grimsby Road at the junction of Hamilton Street to allow our Crime Scene Investigation team to work safely.
"I would encourage anyone with information, or anyone with concerns, to please come and speak to us.
