A Sheffield man has been sentenced to ten and a half years in prison after a major investigation uncovered a synthetic drugs lab in Hull.

Radoslaw Golec, 37-years-old, was arrested for operating a large-scale drug production operation from a house on Cavill Place in Hull.

Following concerns raised about chemical deliveries to the property, officers arrived on 13th November 2025, sparking Golec’s attempted escape.

Inside, police discovered industrial equipment, chemicals, and tools used to manufacture significant quantities of drugs, including amphetamine, methamphetamine, MDMA, and mephedrone.

Specialist officers and partner agencies spent five days dismantling the hazardous lab before the investigation exposed a broader organised crime operation.

Evidence revealed communications on mobile phones regarding laboratory equipment purchases from China using cryptocurrency.

A linked network utilised courier services to distribute drugs nationwide, with CCTV and parcel tracking uncovering connections to approximately 70kg of mephedrone valued at £280,000.

Forensic evidence placed Golec at the scene, with CCTV showing regular visits to the Hull address.

Golec was eventually traced and arrested in Sheffield on 2nd April 2026, with additional suspected drugs and equipment found at a second Sheffield property.

He was charged and remanded into custody, while nine other individuals remain on conditional bail.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Swaby described the investigation as exposing a dangerous operation driven by greed, demonstrating substantial risk to public safety.

The extensive inquiry involved collaborative work from the Major Crime Team, specialist officers, and analysts to dismantle the operation.

Swaby stated: "While Golec may have believed he had all the ingredients for a successful enterprise, it ultimately collapsed when our officers uncovered the full scale of the criminality operating behind the scenes."

Authorities encourage the community to report criminal concerns via 101 or reaching out to local officers.

Crimestoppers offer anonymous reporting at 0800 555 111, and emergencies should be directed to 999.
