Man jailed for eight years for raping teenage girl in Brigg
Tsang sentenced at Grimsby Crown Court for serious sexual offences
Kato Tsang, a 45-year-old man from Bridge Street, Brigg, North Lincolnshire, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for the rape of a girl under 16 years old.
Tsang, who identifies as Chinese, was found guilty following a seven-day trial at Grimsby Crown Court, which concluded on 28th July 2026.
He was sentenced yesterday, on 25th August 2026, and ordered to remain on the Sex Offenders Register for life. He was also subjected to a lifelong Restraining Order and handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
The case was initiated by the Protecting Vulnerable People Unit in May 2022 after the teenager reported being raped by Tsang, someone she knew.
Detectives swiftly arrested Tsang, who provided a pre-prepared statement denying responsibility and largely chose to answer no comment during police questioning.
Following a thorough investigation, Tsang was charged in September 2025 with the offence.
Detective Constable Becky McInnis from the Child Sexual Exploitation Team led the complex case.
McInnis said, “Our investigation uncovered how Tsang would manipulate and ploy the teenager with alcohol...CCTV enquiries from the day of the incident showed Tsang touching her numerous times.”
She added that Tsang then took her to a secluded location where the crime occurred.
McInnis commended the bravery of the young survivor for coming forward with her story.
“The events of that night will undoubtedly stay with the woman for the rest of her life...no amount of justice will erase the physical and mental harm,” McInnis said.
She emphasised the commitment of trained officers to support victims and hold perpetrators accountable.
