A man described as the 'ringleader' of a violent aggravated burglary in Hull has been jailed for seven years.

Jordan Robinson, 31, of no fixed address, has been sentenced at Hull Crown Court after pleading guilty to aggravated burglary.

The court heard how in the early hours of August last year, Robinson and two others broke into a home in Hull after Robinson pretended to be a police officer at the door.

Wearing a balaclava and armed with a hammer, Robinson attacked a man inside, leaving him with a shoulder injury.

He launched at the man with a hammer, just missing his head.

He also damaged the home during the incident.

An electric bike was stolen before the group fled.

A woman who was also involved, Lauren Tindall, 23, of Weymouth Close, Hull, was jailed for 18 months after pleading guilty to aggravated burglary.

She has since been released as she already served time on remand.

The victim was not seriously injured.

"Terrorising a man and woman inside their own home."

Detective Constable Chloe Campbell-Hamilton, who led the investigation, said: “Robinson acted as a ringleader that day, leading two others in terrorising a man and woman inside their own home.

“In a manic few minutes, Robinson launched at the man with the hammer, narrowly missing his head and causing injuries to his shoulder in the process.

“In the mayhem, Robinson’s balaclava clumsily fell, and despite the shock and fear the victim must have felt at the time, he was able to immediately identify Robinson, ultimately leading to the sentence imposed upon him today.

“Nobody should be made to feel unsafe in their own home, and all reports of this nature are taken extremely seriously."
