In the early hours of this morning, a woman was arrested after driving a silver Vauxhall in the wrong direction on the Humber Bridge.

Officers in Hull responded to reports at approximately 12.25am on Friday (1 May), when the driver allegedly travelled south onto the bridge, executed a U-turn, and continued driving northbound on the southbound carriageway before halting on a path.

Patrol teams from Brough and Barton, in cooperation with Humber Bridge staff, managed the situation swiftly and safely.

The arrested driver, a 33-year-old woman, is suspected of dangerous driving and operating a vehicle while her blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit.

She remains in custody as police conduct further enquiries into the incident.
