The Humber Bridge experienced a closure in both directions due to a vehicle fire, prompting Humberside Police to advise motorists to find alternative routes.
Emergency services were quickly on the scene to manage the situation.
Drivers were urged to use different routes and plan their travel to avoid delays.
As the situation has progressed, the northbound carriageway of the Humber Bridge is now open to traffic.
However, the southbound carriageway remains closed while efforts are underway to recover the vehicle and assess the roadway.
A spokesperson for Stagecoach East Midlands said: "Smoke was detected from one of vehicles as it travelled across the Humber Bridge at around 7.25 this morning.
"Our driver evacuated passengers from the vehicle safely and we are not aware of any reported injuries.
"The fire services were called and attended the vehicle. Safety is our absolute priority. We will carry out a thorough investigation into the cause of this incident."
Humberside Police express their gratitude to the public for their patience during the closure and continue to work with emergency services to ensure all traffic can move as soon as possible.
Travelers are advised to allow extra time for their journey, and updates will be provided as the situation develops.
A spokesperson for the Humber Bridge Board said: "An incident involving a vehicle fire took place at around 7.15am on the morning of Friday, 8 May, on the A15, south of the Humber Bridge but within the Humber Bridge estate.
"Although this led to the closure of both Humber Bridge carriageways, the northbound carriageway has now reopened and we're working closely with the emergency services to clear the southbound carriageway as quickly as possible."
