More than five million pounds could be coming to Hull to support families and young children.

Hull City Council is set to approve government funding for Best Start Family Hubs, which help parents and offer support for children up to nineteen.

The money would be used up to 2029.

The programme seeks to built on the legacy of Sure Start, an initiative introduced under Sir Tony Blair’s New Labour Government in 1998.

The report states: “Hull’s Best Start Family Hubs (BSFHs) offer welcoming, inclusive, environments where every family feels valued and confident to ask for support. BSFHs are open to all families with children aged 0–19 (or up to 25 for young people with SEND).”
