Hull City welcomes back Óscar Zambrano from Maribor on permanent deal
Ecuadorian midfielder signs four-year contract with Tigers
Hull City has announced the return of Ecuadorian defensive midfielder Óscar Zambrano from Slovenian club Maribor on a permanent basis.
Zambrano, 22, has signed a four-year contract with the Tigers, including a club option for an additional year.
His transfer fee remains undisclosed.
Zambrano’s career highlights
Zambrano made seven appearances for Maribor, scoring twice after joining them last year.
During his loan spell with Hull City in the 2024/25 season, Zambrano impressed fans with a goal and an assist in an emphatic 4-1 win against Cardiff City.
A product of LDU Quito's academy, Zambrano enjoyed a successful stint with the Ecuadorian outfit, scoring twice in 65 appearances.
He notably netted in a 4-0 triumph over Macará in August 2024.
Zambrano’s international and club success
The Santo Domingo-born player contributed significantly to LDU Quito's victorious 2023 campaign, helping them secure their 12th Ecuadorian Serie A title and lift the Copa Sudamericana.
The midfielder has also been capped 14 times at the Under-20 level for Ecuador.
Zambrano began his football journey at Colorados Jaipadida academy, the same institution that nurtured Chelsea's Moisés Caicedo.
Hull City fans can look forward to Zambrano strengthening their midfield as he returns to East Yorkshire.
