Buildings throughout Hull city centre will illuminate in Hull & East Yorkshire Mind’s colours on Time to Talk Day, Thursday 5th February 2026, celebrating both the national awareness day and the local mental health charity’s 50th anniversary.

This initiative aims to visibly support mental health awareness and remind individuals of the importance of conversation, encouraging the community in Hull and East Yorkshire to connect, converse, and recognise available local support.

Hull & East Yorkshire Mind, established in 1976, is commemorating its 50th year with various events, campaigns, and fundraising activities designed to honour its history while preparing for the future. Time to Talk Day will be a key feature of this anniversary year, reinforcing the idea that discussing mental health doesn't need to be daunting. Conversations can start with something as simple as a chat over a cup of tea or a quick check-in.

H2 Celebrating five decades of mental health support

Jack Moore, Head of External Relations at Hull & East Yorkshire Mind, expressed:

“Seeing Hull light up for Time to Talk Day is a powerful reminder of what this city does best - looking out for one another.

For 50 years, Hull & East Yorkshire Mind has helped local people find the words, the confidence and the space to talk about their mental health. Whether it’s been a first conversation, a quiet check-in, or ongoing support, talking has always been at the heart of what we do.

As we mark this milestone, we’re proud of the thousands of conversations that have happened over the past five decades - and just as committed to the future. We’ll continue creating safe, supportive spaces where people feel able to open up, be heard, and know they’re not alone.”

Hull & East Yorkshire Mind encourages individuals to use Time to Talk Day as an opportunity to connect with those they trust, participate in local events, or take a moment to reach out to others.
