Two men jailed for kidnapping and assault in Hornsea
Violent crime sees perpetrators sentenced
Two men from the East Riding of Yorkshire have been jailed following their roles in the kidnapping and assault of a man they knew in Hornsea last year.
Mason Senior, aged 25, from Huddersfield Road, Mirfield, Leeds admitted to charges of kidnap and robbery and was sentenced to five years at Hull Crown Court on 12th August 2026.
James Kershaw, also 25, from Haggitt Grove, Beverley, pleaded guilty to robbery and received a three-year prison term.
The incident occurred on 18th April 2025 when a distressed man sought help at a petrol station after claiming he had been kidnapped and assaulted by Senior and Kershaw.
The man recounted being lured into a car with two familiar faces and driven to a secluded location where he was demanded to hand over his phone, wallet, house keys, and password.
Reports indicated he was punched by Senior while his wrists were restrained by Kershaw.
After a brief escape attempt, the victim was physically attacked once more before ultimately reaching safety at a petrol station.
Following the report, Bridlington CID launched a thorough investigation, although Senior and Kershaw evaded arrest initially.
A public appeal for information resulted in Kershaw handing himself in, while Senior was later apprehended in Beverley.
Police Constable Tom Gordge from Bridlington CID expressed gratitude towards those who assisted the victim and stressed the importance of holding perpetrators accountable.
"The man demonstrated great bravery in coming forward despite the threat from people he considered friends," Gordge said.
