Police have arrested five men in Grimsby on suspicion of drugs offences after police carried out warrants at two addresses, as they investigate suspected overdoses.

Four people are in hospital after becoming unwell between Thursday and Friday, with contaminated drugs believed to be involved.

A man has also died at a home on Hope Street - police are looking into whether his death is connected to the drugs.

Chief Superintendent Sharon Philpott said: “Extensive enquires remain ongoing to establish the circumstances leading up to each report and whether there is a connection between them.

“We are in the early stages of our investigation however we are considering the possibility that the reports could be linked to a contaminated batch of drugs.

“Our teams continue to work alongside the local authority, drugs and alcohol treatment services and the hospital trusts to provide the appropriate support and advice to those who have been affected."
