An eight-year-old boy from Grimsby has been spending his weekends cleaning street signs to help brighten up his local area.

Logan Wade, from Laceby Acres, was inspired to start cleaning signs after seeing his parent’s landlord doing the same outside their old home.

His dad, David, said: "He saw our former landlord cleaning the signs at the first home he lived in and wanted to give it a go himself.

"A couple of weeks later, he decided he wanted to start cleaning the signs around the area we lived in and it's carried on from there."

David said Logan enjoys keeping busy and has always loved cleaning: “He’s been like it since he was young – he loves cleaning and hoovers too. He’s often taking vacuums apart and rebuilding them.”

Logan's dad shared photos of him cleaning signs on a local Facebook group, where others were thrilled to see a young person doing their bit.

David added: "I'm so proud of what he's done and I'm really happy to see so many people saying nice things.

"It's made him want to keep doing it too, he's really enjoying himself."

North East Lincolnshire councillor Paul Batson also praised Logan's efforts.

He said: "I want to say a personal thank you to him for looking after his local area – we can all take something away from his actions, always take pride in where you live."
