Suspected drink-driver refused to stop of officers

A 33-year-old man has been charged with six offences following reports of a suspected drink driver in Bridlington.
Richard Arkless, of Tennyson Avenue, was charged with driving above the alcohol limit, driving without due care and attention, failing to stop when required, criminal damage to property, assault by beating of an emergency worker, and using a vehicle without third-party insurance.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, 23rd January 2026, when officers reported that a driver failed to stop when requested by them on Quay Road at around 3.20am.
Police said the situation led to a short pursuit ending at Hill Street, where the suspect allegedly attempted to flee on foot towards Moorfield Road before being detained and arrested.
Arkless has been bailed and is due to appear at Hull Magistrates Court on Thursday, 12th March 2026.
