Driver arrested after vehicle driven wrong way in East Riding
A 24 year old is in custody for questioning
A man has been arrested after a vehicle was reportedly seen driving the wrong way around a roundabout in East Riding.
Humberside Police say the vehicle was also reported to be travelling at excess speed in the Wold Hill area of North Cave on Tuesday 19 May. After officers requested the driver to stop, he allegedly failed to do so and is further reported to have driven through a red light.
A pursuit followed and the vehicle was brought to a stop. After speaking with the driver, officers carried out a roadside breath test, which returned a reading above the legal alcohol limit.
The driver, a 24-year-old man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving, driving a motor vehicle while above the prescribed alcohol limit, and being in charge of a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug in his system.
He currently remains in police custody while enquiries continue.
