Collision leads to man arrested for drink driving

A man's been arrested, after driving into the central reservation of the M62.

Police received a call from a member of the public, who had just witnessed the driver of a vehicle colliding with the central reservation on the M62 at Howden yesterday afternoon (Sunday, 12 July 2026).

Officers were deployed to the area and spotted a man matching the description given by the member of the public near to where the collision reportedly occurred. Upon approaching the man, he appeared to be under the influence and was also found to have the key to the vehicle in his pocket. The officers requested the man to take a roadside breath test, which he refused.

A 45 year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of failing to provide specimen for analysis, drink driving, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance and was transported to custody where he remains, assisting with ongoing enquiries.
