Man charged after shop thefts
A Police Dog Unit officer was alerted to a reported shop theft in progress, leading to a man being charged with multiple offences.
A man has been charged with multiple shop theft offences following reports of incidents in Grimsby and Cleethorpes.
Police say an officer from the Police Dog Unit received an alert over the radio about a shop theft in progress at a nearby store.
The report led to the arrest and charge of James Pexman, 43, of no fixed abode.
He has been charged with three counts of theft from a shop.
Pexman was remanded into custody and was due to appear at Grimsby Magistrates’ Court this morning, Wednesday, 13 May.
The charges relate to reports that a man entered three shops on Monday, 11 May and Tuesday, 12 May.
The incidents are reported to have taken place at stores on Second Avenue and Victoria Street in Grimsby, and Grimsby Road in Cleethorpes.
It is alleged the man attempted to leave the shops without making payment.
Police have confirmed the charges following the incidents in North East Lincolnshire.
