Humberside Police said in a statement they were called shortly after 2pm (Saturday 2 May) to 'reports that a child, who was playing in the street, had suffered what are thought to be serious injuries after he was reportedly hit by a car.'

They are now appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the collision, or who has dashcam footage from the area, to get in touch.

They said: 'We are particularly keen to hear from the driver of an ice cream van that was seen in the area at the time as we believe they may have witnessed something that could assist our enquiries.'
