Grimsby Town has confirmed the signing of Andy Cook on a permanent basis after the expiration of his contract with Bradford City.

The experienced striker has agreed to a one-year deal at Blundell Park, with an option for the club to extend the agreement for another year.

Cook initially rejoined the Mariners on loan in January and quickly established himself within Head Coach David Artell’s squad, contributing to Town's progression to the Sky Bet League Two Play-Offs.

During the latter half of the last season, the 35-year-old striker made 22 league appearances wearing the black and white kit, scoring seven goals and providing two assists.

These goals included notable braces against Walsall and Crewe Alexandra, while his experience and leadership were appreciated both on and off the pitch.

Cook is well known to Mariners fans, having previously represented the club during the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons, netting at Wembley Stadium in the FA Trophy Final and scoring 22 goals in all competitions.

Head Coach David Artell spoke highly of Cook's influence:

“Cooky needs no introduction. He helped play an absolutely pivotal role in us getting towards where we wanted to get to last season."

Artell expressed hopes for continued success with Cook leading the front line.

Cook shared his enthusiasm upon signing the new deal:

“I’m delighted to be staying. I loved my time here last season and it quickly became clear what a special Football Club this is."

Cook praised the supporters and emphasised the collective focus on future achievements, expressing eagerness to get started with the team once more.

Grimsby Town Football Club congratulates Cook on his new contract and looks forward to his return to the black and white jersey.
