A cash machine has been ripped out of a wall outside a store and stolen in Markfield, Leicestershire.

Suspects are believed to have driven a piece of machinery into the front of the building on Chitterman Way around 3.30 on Monday 24 November.

Police found a telehandler abandoned at the scene.

A white pickup truck, seen heading towards London Road, was used to drive the cash point away.

Officers say the vehicle was later found on fire in Humble Lane, Ratcliffe on the Wreake.

Detectives are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, but has not yet spoken to police, to come forward.

They are also asking for dash cam footage from anyone who may have seen the white truck driving away.

Detective Chief Inspector Tom Allard, investigating, said: “After setting the vehicle on fire, it is very likely the suspects will have made off in another vehicle.

“The people involved have not only stolen the ATM but they have caused significant structural damage to the building.

"If you have any information, please come forward.”
