A teenager has been arrested following a series of arson attacks in Nottingham.

Things like fences, mattresses, motorcycles, bins, and piles of rubbish were set alight in the St Ann's area between 3:30am and 8:30am on 8 April.

This happened on The Wells Road, Warton Avenue, Hendon Rise, Luther Close, and Brewsters Road.

Police Constable Betty Shone, of the City South neighbourhood policing team, said: “Deliberately lit fires like this are always investigated thoroughly because of the devastating consequences they can result in.

“Fires can spread very quickly to neighbouring properties and put anyone living in the area at risk.

“Thankfully, we don’t believe anyone was harmed during this series of incidents and officers have worked quickly to identify and arrest a suspect.”

A 17-year-old boy was arrested the same day on suspicion of eight counts of arson. He has since been released on bail with strict conditions.

Anyone with information is being asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 26*199368, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
