Nottinghamshire Police have called on supporters to focus on the football and help ensure a safe matchday atmosphere as Nottingham Forest welcome Leicester City to the City Ground this afternoon.
With the East Midlands derby a sell-out and the Premier League season nearing its conclusion, a large crowd is expected along the banks of the River Trent for the 2.15pm kick-off.
Police will be present throughout the day to manage the event and maintain order before, during and after the match.
“Our focus for today is to ensure the good-natured atmosphere experienced at matches this season continues,” said Superintendent Jon Foy, match commander for Nottinghamshire Police.
“We know the vast majority of fans will be going today for the right reasons and will be planning to enjoy their afternoon at the football by cheering on their side without causing any trouble.”
Supporters attending the match or visiting the city can expect a visible police presence throughout the day.
Supt Foy added: “This could be someone’s first match or their hundredth. We’re expecting people of all ages to be making their way to the City Ground, so it’s really important that everyone is able to enjoy this match safely.
“With this in mind, we will be working closely with the club to help make sure this happens.”
The all-Midlands fixture is one of the final games in the league calendar, adding further significance to an already high-profile encounter.
