Officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward
Detectives in East Leicester continue to investigate a serious crash - with officers appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
A man in his 70s was rushed to hospital following the incident at a junction in the Evington area... but suffered injuries not thought to be life threatening or life changing.
Officers said: "Detectives are continuing to investigate a serious collision in East Leicester last night - and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
"Police were called to the junction where Evington Lane meets Evington Road and Evington Drive just before 7pm following a report a van had collided with a pedestrian. It was reported the vehicle had left the scene.
"The pedestrian - a man in his 70s - was taken to hospital where he is continuing to receive treatment for serious injuries, though they are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing."
Detective Sergeant Jack Cornick, from the force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: "While the report we received stated a van was involved, we are keeping an open mind as to the make, model and type of vehicle.
"Our investigation is continuing and I'm appealing for anyone who can help to get in touch. I am particularly keen to speak to any motorists with a dashcam or who saw the vehicle occur.
"I'd also urge residents and business owners to check for any CCTV that could assist us."
