Five wanted suspects were apprehended in Mansfield as part of a coordinated day of action, featuring plain-clothed officers and multiple agencies working together to enhance town centre safety.

Last week, officers from the Mansfield Neighbourhood Team conducted their regular Operation Amberstag initiative, saturating the town centre with uniformed and plain-clothed officers.

They were supported by staff from the district council, local charities, and other stakeholders.

The operation began with uniformed officers partnering with local charities to engage with rough sleepers and move them from locations disrupting businesses.

Plain-clothed officers strategically positioned themselves to identify wanted criminals and those committing offences.

A total of three men were arrested for their suspected involvement in nine unsolved shop thefts.

Another suspect was detained for breaching bail conditions, while a woman was taken into custody on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs and theft.

Additional individuals were ordered to leave the town centre due to disruptive and antisocial behaviour.

As evening approached, the team, bolstered by licensing colleagues, conducted compliance checks on venues serving alcohol and taxi services.

PC Kevin Marshall from the town centre policing team highlighted the initiative's collaborative efforts.

"We've been running this operation for several years now and it's a great way of bringing together all the agencies working to make the town centre a safe and welcoming place to visit," he said.

He emphasised the coordination with the district council, charities, and local businesses, stating, "Ultimately, this is about making the town centre a better place for all of us."
