Person dies after being hit by train in Leicestershire

Emergency services have been dealing with an incident in Leicestershire this morning after a person was hit by a train.

It happened on the tracks between Loughborough and Leicester.

British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to the railway line in Leicester at 4.43am on 15 January to reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedical also attended, and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

Services have been delayed, revised, or cancelled throughout the morning.
