A Bedfordshire Police officer has been jailed for careless driving, after causing a collision which left a woman with serious injuries.
PC Misho Tamoev was off-duty in his personal vehicle when he failed to give way at a junction in Leicestershire on 23 November 2024. The driver of the other vehicle suffered multiple injuries including a fractured spine.
Tamoev was charged with causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving and pleaded guilty at Leicester Magistrates’ Court in January. He was sentenced to 10 months in prison at a hearing and was given a driving ban for two years and five months.
The officer had received a final written warning for discreditable conduct at an earlier accelerated misconduct hearing, after it was deemed his actions had amounted to gross misconduct.
