A man has been charged with murder following a shooting in Nottingham.

Emergency services were called to Ryeland Gardens in The Meadows, Nottingham, at 5:30 on Saturday morning (28 Feb).

Coel Tainton, 24, was found with serious injuries and treated at the scene. He died shortly after.

Police seized a shotgun.

Jack Preston, 34, of Ryland Gardens, is also accused of beating an emergency worker and a public order offence.

He is due in court today (4 March).

Detective Inspector Clare Gibson, senior investigating officer, said: “As we announce these charges today, our thoughts firmly remain with Coel’s family and friends.”

“Specially-trained officers are providing them with support, and this will continue.

“Our team of investigators and specialist officers have worked extremely hard over the past few days to determine the full circumstances of what happened, and I am pleased we have now been able to charge a suspect in this case.”
