Seven men arrested and one seriously injured after armed fight in Nottingham
Seven men have been arrested following a fight with weapons in Nottingham.
Seven men have been arrested after a group of men began fighting with weapons in Nottingham last night.
Alfreton Road is closed in both direction at the junction of Raleigh Street this morning.
The disorder broke out at around 11:55pm yesterday (2 July), with one man now being treated for serious injuries.
Seven men - aged between 23 and 43 - are being questioned on suspicion of affray and serious assault.
Detective Inspector Luke Todd, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Response teams will always react quickly to reports of this nature.
“Officers have worked efficiently to gain initial accounts from witnesses and trace seven suspects.
“Detectives will now be carrying out a thorough investigation into what happened.
“Alfreton Road is likely to remain shut for some time while we deal with this incident and I’d like to thank motorists for their patience.
“There is never any excuse for serious violence and this will always be met with a robust response.
“We are doing everything we can and I hope members of the community are reassured by these swift arrests.
“Anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident, including passing motorists with dash-cam footage, is urged to contact Nottinghamshire Police without delay.”
Drivers are being warned Alfreton Road still remain closed for some time this morning as police continue to investigate.
