A motorcyclist in his 50s has died after a collision with a van on the A1 near Newark.

Nottinghamshire Police say they and other emergency services were called around 9pm on Friday 3 April to part of the road at South Muskham.

A 57-year-old man died at the scene.

The road was closed until approximately 10am on Saturday 4 April.

Detective Sergeant Paul Clark, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“The man’s family will be supported by specialist officers following this tragic incident and our thoughts are with them.

“They have asked for privacy at what must be an extremely difficult time.

“We’d still like to hear from anyone with any relevant dashcam footage of the incident who has not yet spoken to an officer, or anyone who may have witnessed the incident.”

Anyone with relevant information is asked to call the non-emergency 101 number, and quote incident number 680 of 3 April 2026.
