Two men are due in court today following a stabbing in Nottingham city centre, in which they were both hurt.

Police were called to Canal Street just before 5pm on Friday (2 October). A 35-year-old was taken to hospital with injures that aren't thought to be life-threatening. He was then charged with wounding with intent, affray, and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

Shortly after, a 42-year-old was found in a nearby flat with injuries thought to be caused by a broken bottle. He was also taken to hospital and later charged with wounding with intent, affray, and having a knife in a public place.

A 64-year-old man was also arrested on Friday on suspicion of affray and assisting an offender. He was subsequently released on conditional bail.

Detective Sergeant Madeline Flint Foster, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "We take all reports of weapon-enabled crime extremely seriously and continue to take a zero-tolerance approach towards this sort of violence.

"I’d like to reassure people that we will continue to do everything in our power to protect the public, to ensure that those who carry weapons are dealt with quickly and appropriately.”
