Police in Nottingham say a man's body has been recovered from a lake.

Emergency services were called to Wollaton Park at 12.59pm this lunchtime after a discovery by a member of the public.

The park has been closed to visitors all afternoon.

Police said the man's family has been informed and an investigation into what happened is ongoing.

Detective Inspector Lisa Jones, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "This is a tragic discovery and our thoughts this afternoon are with this man's family and friends.

"Whilst our investigation into what happened remains at an early stage, we don't currently believe his death to be suspicious.

"As we work to understand how this man came to be in the water, I would like to appeal to any additional witnesses to come forward."
