Man seriously injured after reported stabbing outside Nottingham chip shop
A 37-year-old man has been arrested after altercation outside a fish and chip shop on Woodborough Road, police say
A man in his 20s has been taken to hospital after being reportedly stabbed during an altercation in Mapperley.
Police were called to Woodborough Road at around 8.30pm on Thursday, 13 August, after reports of a fight outside a fish and chip shop.
The injured man was treated and taken to hospital. His injuries are understood to be serious, although they are not currently considered life-threatening.
Officers carried out searches in the surrounding area and subsequently found a suspect nearby.
A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He had also sustained a head injury and was taken for medical treatment.
The man remains in police custody while enquiries into the incident continue.
Detective Inspector Ian Smith, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
"We believe this altercation began inside the chip shop and resulted in a man suffering a nasty stab wound.
"Officers who attended worked quickly to arrest a suspect and detectives will now be analysing CCTV footage to understand exactly what happened.
"We'd like to thank staff at the chip shop for their assistance during these initial inquiries.
"Anyone who was in the area at the time and has any information, or relevant CCTV, mobile phone, dashcam or doorbell footage, should please get in touch with us to give their account."
