A man in his 40s has been left in a life-threatening condition after a collision between a red Vauxhall Corsa and a pedestrian in Leicester.

Leicestershire Police say they were called to St Peters Lane in the early hours of Friday 27 February.

The man was taken to hospital by East Midlands Ambulance Service, where he is being treated.

Detective Constable Emma Neeves, from the force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We want to speak to anyone who was in the area in the early hours and who may have seen the car prior to the collision.

“We know the victim was speaking to someone else in the street in the moments before.

"We’d like to speak to this man, too – please come forward if this is you."

"Any businesses with CCTV, or cars that were in the area with dashcam footage, please contact us.”

No arrests have been made.
