Man in hospital with serious head injuries following Leicester city centre assault

A man in his 20s is in hospital with serious head injuries following an assault in Leicester city centre this morning.
Emergency services were called to Horsefair Street just before 5am following a report a man in his 20s had suffered serious head injuries.
He was taken to hospital and is continuing to receive treatment.
It was reported that a group of men had left the scene prior to police arriving.
No arrests have been made and an investigation is continuing.
Detective Sergeant Adrian Davies, from the Complex Investigation Team, said:
“Officers spoke to several people when they arrived at the scene and I’m appealing for anyone who can help but has not yet spoken to us to come forward.
“I extend that appeal to anyone who has footage of the incident on a mobile phone or dashcam. Anything you’re able to tell us – no matter how insignificant you think it is – could assist our enquiries.”
