Man charged after fatal collision in Whitemoor

It happened last week and involved multiple vehicles

A man has been charged following a fatal road collision at Nuthall Road, Whitemoor.

Emergency services were called to Nuthall Road, junction of Western Boulevard, following reports of a multi-vehicle collision shortly after 12.30pm on Tuesday (9 December).

Six vehicles were queuing at a set of red traffic lights when another car collided into the back of one.

In an attempt to avoid the impact, a car in the opposing carriageway then veered off the road into a garden wall.

A 36-year-old man, who was in one of the stationary vehicles, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Despite the best efforts of medical staff, he was sadly pronounced dead on Wednesday 10 December.

A woman remains in hospital with serious injuries.

Rowan Grant has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by driving a vehicle whilst unlicensed and uninsured, and causing death by driving whilst disqualified.

He’s also been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving.

The 34-year-old, of Melford Road, Bilborough, was remanded in custody and is next due to appear in Nottingham Crown Court on 12 January 2026.

Detective Sergeant Paul Clark, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

"As we secure these charges, our thoughts remain with the deceased man’s family and friends at this incredibly sad time.

“They continue to be supported by our specially trained officers.

“I’d like to thank the officers who have been working continually over the last few days to gather the evidence, alongside witnesses who came forward to support the investigation.”
