Man arrested amid investigation into serious assault in Leicester city centre
Police continue appeal for information a week after attack.
A man has been arrested as part of an investigation into a serious assault in Leicester city centre last weekend.
Emergency services were called to Horsefair Street shortly before 5am on Sunday 30th November following reports that a man in his 20s had suffered serious head injuries.
The victim remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition.
Since the incident, detectives have been conducting extensive enquiries, including reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses.
Police have confirmed the arrest of a 20-year-old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He is currently in custody as the investigation continues.
Officers remain keen to hear from anyone who can assist their enquiries.
Detective Sergeant Adrian Davies, from Leicester Police’s Complex Investigation Team (CIT), said:
“A young man has been seriously injured as a result of this attack. He remains in hospital in a very serious condition.
“We are working to do all we can to ensure the person or people responsible for this incident are arrested. Throughout this week we have carried out a number of enquiries in order to try and achieve this.
“We have arrested one man, but our investigation is very much still ongoing. We still want to speak to anyone who was out in Leicester city centre last Saturday night into the early hours of Sunday morning and saw what happened or has any information that can help.
“We are also keen to hear from anyone who has footage of the incident on a mobile phone or motorists who were driving past and may have dashcam footage.”
