Knife crime officers chased down three suspects before seizing weapons and dozens of drugs wraps.

The specialist team were out on patrol in St Ann’s, Nottingham, when they spotted some suspicious behaviour down an alleyway.

Believing a drug deal could be taking place, officers approached three people on Botany Avenue, who all fled the scene.

None of the trio got far at all, however, before officers trailing closely behind found and detained them in a garden in Blundell Close.

Following the chase, which happened around 3.35pm on Thursday (6th February), the officers dispersed to conduct a search of the nearby area.

A discarded rucksack was quickly discovered in an adjacent garden, which when looked through was found to contain a hunting knife and around 70 wraps of suspected heroin.

While this was going on, a zombie-style knife in a sheath was also recovered outside another property in the vicinity.

Multiple burner-style phones as well as weighing scales were also found.

Three men- aged 18, 18 and 19- were all subsequently arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife and possessing with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Detective Chief Inspector Claire Gould, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The officers involved in this triple arrest did a great job in firstly spotting something that didn’t look right and then acting on these suspicions.

“Their actions ultimately resulted in us being able to take two dangerous bladed weapons off the streets, while also seizing bags of Class A drugs as well.

“The knife crime team’s remit when they go out on their patrols is to target potential weapon carriers and take knives and drugs out of harm’s way, so this proved itself to be a very successful stop for them.”
