Moped rider in hospital after head-on collision in Leicester
The moped collided with a car in East Park Road on Friday.
A moped rider is in hospital with serious injuries after a collision in Leicester.
It happened in East Park Road shortly after midnight on Friday.
The rider – a man in his 20s – collided head-on with a car, close to the junction with Blanklyn Avenue.
The driver of the car did not stop at the scene and detectives are trying to identify who the person is.
According to enquiries carried out by police, the car involved is thought to be a green Mercedes-Benz E-Class. They believe it may have been overtaking a small white minibus just before colliding with the moped.
The moped rider was taken to hospital where he currently remains.
Detective Sergeant Mike Steer, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are working to identify who was driving the car involved in this incident – if this was you, or you know who this person is, I would urge you to contact police.
“As part of the ongoing investigation I would also like to speak to anyone who was driving in the area and may have seen the collision or the car before or after the incident happened.
“I am particularly keen to speak to the driver of the minibus.”
Police would like witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to call them on 101, quoting crime reference number 25*327048.
