Police are appealing for the public’s help after a man was attacked with a hammer in Wollaton.

A man in his 40s was sat in his car when an unknown man approached and accused him of causing damage to another parked car, before attacking him with a hammer.

The victim told officers he hadn’t caused damage to another vehicle and that he’d suffered injuries to his hand and mouth, which required hospital treatment.

The incident happened in Bramcote Lane at around 11am on Saturday (30 August).

Officers have pursued a number of lines of inquiry in a bid to identify the attacker and would like to trace the person seen wearing a green top in this image.

PC Jessie Knott, who is leading the investigation, said:

“This was an unprovoked assault and we are doing everything we can to find the person responsible.

“We appreciate that the quality of the image we’re releasing today is not great but at this time it is the only one available to us. The man is wearing a green to-shirt and green shorts and is aged about 40, with receding dark hair.

“If you recognise the clothing or any features of the individual, please get in touch.

“We’d also be keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage that may assist us.”
