Police are investigating in Leicestershire after a firearm was discharged in Braunstone last night (2nd June).

Armed officers were sent to Cort Crescent before 10:30pm to reports of a gunshot being heard.

No-one was injured but officers came across damage caused to a property which was consistent with a firearm having been discharged.

Police are preserving the scene and patrols are in the area today (3rd June).

Detective Inspector Nathan Paddison said: “Our investigation to understand the circumstances of this incident is in its early stages and I’d like to speak to anyone who can help.

“I’m particularly keen for witnesses who saw or heard anyone acting in a manner that seemed unusual or suspicious to get in touch. This includes anything that may have been captured on CCTV, a doorbell camera or a dashcam.

“Any information or footage you’re able to provide, no matter how insignificant you think it is, could be important.”
