Four boys have been charged with wasting police time after armed officers responded to a reported robbery in Mansfield.

Nottinghamshire Police officers were called to the town centre shortly after 2am on Wednesday 3 September 2025 after a young man called 999 to say he’d been robbed at knife point by a group of youths.

Four suspects were arrested, but no knives were recovered and after investigations, police found no robbery had taken place.

Four boys, aged 16, 15, 14 and 14 have been charged with causing wasteful employment of police.

The defendants, who can’t be named because of their ages, will appear at Nottingham Youth Court on 21 January.
