Patients moved after fire at Queen's Medical Centre Emergency Department

The hospital has now regained full operational status

The Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham has restored full operational status after a fire affected its Emergency Department overnight.

Crews from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue attended the scene, swiftly responding to the incident.

Patients were temporarily moved from the affected area to ensure their safety during the response, the hospital confirmed.

In an update at 1:15am this morning, QMC announced that the fire had been dealt with, allowing them to return patients to the now fully functional Emergency Department.

A spokesperson for QMC said, “We are hugely grateful to our NUH colleagues, and our partners at Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue and EMAS for their swift and professional response to help maintain safety for all of our patients, staff and visitors.”

The hospital has advised members of the public to continue supporting by selecting appropriate NHS services, including NHS 111, to allow teams to focus on the exceptionally busy Emergency Department.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue are investigating the cause of the fire. QMC stated that all patients in the Emergency Department were safe throughout the response.
