Rail passengers travelling between the East Midlands and London are facing disruption this morning, with delays or cancellations on intercity routes.

A building fire last night near to the track between Kettering and Market Harborough has affected some East Midlands Railway services. In a message posted to social media, the operator said: "Disruption to our trains on our London Intercity route, due to a fire at a property next to the track near Kettering.

"Please check your journey before travel, we also have some cancelled trains due to Driver shortages."

The operator had already announced a number of services would have to be cancelled due to a shortage of staff.

Meanwhile, Northamptonshire Police have confirmed an investigation is underway after three people died following a house fire in Rushton, near Kettering at around 10.30pm last night.
