Police prevented large amounts of Class A drugs from being flushed down the toilet while making a double arrest.

Operational Support officers were in Sneinton searching for a car on cloned plates when they discovered the drugs haul.

The vehicle had been found parked up minutes before outside an address in Ipswich Circus, around 9.10pm on Wednesday (4 June).

After establishing the occupants of the car had gone inside the rented property, police contacted the landlord who quickly arrived to let them in.

When officers then rushed inside the building and ran upstairs, they found two suspects standing next to the bathroom.

Large quantities of drugs wraps were floating in the toilet, which was blocked and had seemingly just been flushed.

Three snooker ball sized bundles of Class A drugs wraps – believed to be heroin and cocaine – were in a bag next to the toilet.

More drugs were later recovered from across the property, while police also seized large quantities of cash from the address too.

The car they’d tracked down outside the house was also confirmed to have been stolen from the Essex area.

Police arrested two men, aged 22 and 24, on suspicion of possessing with intent to supply Class A drugs and theft of a motor vehicle.
