A 41-year-old man has been jailed for four years after his dangerous driving caused life-changing injuries to multiple victims in Nottingham.

Callum Knott, of Saint Matthias Road, St Ann’s, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on 13th January following a series of collisions along Valley Road and Arnold Road on 28th September 2025.

Knott collided with three cars on Valley Road, Sherwood, causing catastrophic injuries to drivers and passengers.

One of his victims, a 65-year-old man, suffered severe injuries that required the amputation of his right leg. He remains in hospital, having also sustained broken ribs, a shoulder injury, and a fractured femur.

Another collision involved a female driver whose car carried three children. She was pushed into the opposing lane and struck another vehicle head-on.

The woman suffered a broken ankle, dislocated knee, and additional injuries. Her daughter also sustained a fractured coccyx, with the other children escaping with minor injuries.

The court heard how the incidents caused lasting emotional trauma, including nightmares and stress for the female driver.

In a statement read by the 65-year-old victim’s partner, she said: “This month we should have been celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary… Instead, we are in a dark place.”

Knott’s erratic driving began with collisions involving a van and a stationary car, though occupants in those vehicles escaped without injuries. He failed to stop after each incident, continuing his dangerous journey without checking the impact of his actions.

Earlier that day, Knott was involved in a separate incident where he slashed car tyres at a property. He pleaded guilty to criminal damage, possession of a bladed article, failing to stop after a road accident, failing to report an accident, and three counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

In addition to his four-year jail term, Knott was banned from driving for seven years.

Speaking after the sentencing, Detective Inspector Jamie Moore of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said:

“Knott decided to drive in a manner that placed other road users in serious danger with catastrophic consequences, leaving one victim still in hospital.

“This case should serve as a warning to others about the potential results of such careless behaviour on the roads, and that it will never be tolerated by the force.

“Whilst this sentencing will not change the fact that Knott’s careless actions have caused a victim to suffer life-changing injuries alongside serious ones, I hope it can provide some peace to them and their families to know he is behind bars.”
