A woman in her late seventies sustained serious injuries
A suspected drink driver's been arrested after a collision when a car lost control and hit two pedestrians in Stapleford.
The vehicle reportedly mounted the curb in Pasture Road at around 2.40pm yesterday (August 14th).
A woman in her late seventies sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital.
Another woman in her late seventies was also injured in the incident.
Officers arrested a 33-year-old, whom they believe was behind the wheel at the time of the collision.
The woman was suspected to be under the influence but attempts to complete a roadside breathalyser were unsuccessful.
She was then arrested on suspicion of drink-driving, drug-driving, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, assaulting an emergency worker, and being drunk and disorderly.
Detective Constable Liah Lane, of the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:
“All our thoughts remain with the injured pedestrian recovering in hospital following this incident.
“An investigation is currently ongoing to establish what happened, but we can confirm a suspect has been arrested on suspicion of multiple driving offences.
“If you witnessed this incident, or if you inadvertently captured it on dash-cam or other footage, we want to hear from you, as this information could really assist our inquiries.”
