Court appearance after drugs found in Nottingham car and home
Large quantities of illegal drugs were seized during police searches
A 46-year-old man has appeared in court after police discovered drugs during a car stop and home search in Nottingham.
A patrol by police officers on Valley Road resulted in the recovery of suspected cocaine and cannabis. The vehicle was stopped around 3.30pm on Monday and its two occupants – a 25-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman – were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs.
Following further investigations, police searched an address on Mansfield Road, Nottingham, where additional quantities of suspected Class A and Class B drugs were seized.
Vincent Behan, 46, of Mansfield Road, was subsequently charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.
Behan appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday and is due to appear next at Nottingham Crown Court on 4th March.
Sergeant Matt Daley of the knife crime team commented on the operation, stating:
“Large amounts of drugs were recovered from both the car in the initial stop and an associated property.
"Class A drugs are intrinsically linked to knife crime so seizing these substances through proactive stops like this are an important part of our team’s efforts.”
The investigation remains ongoing and the arrested man and woman have been released on bail.
