A woman has died following a collision on the A61 Dronfield Bypass.

A woman has died in a collision after she was seen walking down the A61 Dronfield Bypass.

Police were called to reports of her walking on the dual carriageway at 5:10 yesterday morning (9 Oct).

Shortly after 5:20am, she was involved in a collision on the northbound carriageway, just before the Bowshaw Roundabout.

The woman, who was in her 40s and from Sheffield, was taken to hospital but died just before 1pm.

Her family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver stopped at the scene and is helping police with their enquiries.

No arrests have been made.

Derbyshire Police said: "Detectives from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are asking anyone who was driving on the A61 on either carriageway between 4.45am and 5.22am with dashcam footage to come forward.
