Six boys - aged between 12 and 14 - have been arrested after trespassers got onto the roof of the old Debenhams store in Nottingham.

Police were called to Long Row at around 2pm yesterday afternoon (31 July).

A number of tiles were thrown from the roof.

Chief Inspector Jon Hewitt, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We responded quickly to this incident and thankfully have received no reports of injuries.

“Officers have made a number of arrests and anyone found to be involved can expect a robust response.

“Disused and derelict buildings are dangerous and we’d urge people to both keep away from them and encourage their children to do likewise.

“We will be working with security staff at this site to ensure the building is as secure as it possibly can be going forward.”

The boys are being questioned on suspicion of criminal damage and public nuisance.
