Arrest after man seen with sword in Leicester

Armed police have been called to reports of a man walking through part of Leicester with a Samurai sword.

Leicestershire Police were called by several members of the public to a man acting suspiciously near to Aylestone Road and Saffron Lane at around 10.20am on Saturday 7 March.

A 36-year-old man was arrested and remains in custody for questioning.

No one was injured in the incident.

Leicestershire Police say they want to thank those who called 999. They say their quick action meant police were able to deal with this immediately and no one came to any harm.
